MRT Passageway Mural: Journey Through the Seasons

Originally written by Joanna Lin (Education and Culture Department)

As the dark shadow of COVID-19 begins to lift after a grueling three-year battle, hospitals are gradually reopening their once-sealed corridors. At the nexus of healthcare and urban transit—the hallway leading to Zhongyi Metro Station—something remarkable has unfolded. What was once a nondescript passageway is now a visual odyssey, thanks to the artistry of Lin Zixin and Zeng Yuqian from the Taiwan University of the Arts. Lin Zixin, the visionary behind the mural, muses, "The four seasons are a metaphor for life's highs and lows. From the budding optimism of spring to summer's radiant energy, the soulful transformation of autumn, and winter's introspective calm—our mural captures these phases in one grand spectacle." Imagine journeying through a kaleidoscope of seasons with each step, as this living tapestry serves as a poignant reminder that life, much like the seasons, is a continuous, interconnected cycle. Now that the gateway to the metro station is accessible again, we invite everyone—be it the weary patient or the diligent hospital staffer—to soak in this splash of vibrant hues and perhaps, find a fleeting moment of solace and joy.
