The Long Awaited Bloom
Pink Trumpet Tree
Scientific Name: Tabebuia rosea
Floral Language: Gentle Love
Blooming Season: Annually from February to April
Belonging to the tropical tree species, the pink trumpet tree can grow over 15 meters tall with a diameter reaching up to 1 meter. The trunk stands straight, branches extend upwards diverging widely, and the bark is gray-white, smooth on the surface with slight spots. The large tree crown becomes rounded like an umbrella. In winter, the leaves fall off, and spring welcomes the blooming season, covering the tree with large clusters of purple-red or pink flowers, which at first glance, resemble the Yoshino cherry and hydrangea.
Five years ago, colleagues from the administrative department planted a row of pink trumpet trees at the hospital's main entrance, hoping that the blooming flowers would bring a warm and romantic atmosphere to the hospital. After five years of careful nurturing, fertilizing, watering, and pruning, the pink trumpet trees have finally welcomed their most splendid bloom in five years.
Every day, patients, medical staff, and passersby come and go at the hospital entrance, rarely looking up at the treetops. However, this time, the fallen flowers have made many people stop in their tracks, surprised to find that the branches' green leaves have turned into a sea of pink flowers overnight.
We look forward to the pink trumpet trees blooming again, bringing another round of surprises and beauty to the cancer hospital.
