Sunny Song, Special Assistant to the Chairman: Reflections on Joining KFSYSCC

Working at the Koo Foundation Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center has been the most remarkable stop on my career journey. My first meeting with Dr. Huang, the hospital’s founder, left a lasting impression as he shared his core values, the impact of KFSYSCC’s multi-disciplinary treatment approach, and the influence of his mentors in the U.S. During a memorable lunch with student interns, Dr. Huang’s heartfelt questions to them about their passion for medicine moved me deeply.

After a month here, I’ve seen the extraordinary care and collaboration among colleagues—doctors tailoring treatments to each patient’s needs, creative nursing care, and thoughtful discussions in team case reviews. Witnessing this dedication, from music events for patients to advanced cancer care analyses, truly demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to making a difference.

My background in marketing and public relations has always focused on blending brand synergies, and I see a similar spirit here at KFSYSCC, where values are preserved just as my family and I witness in Chishang Township, Taitung, Taiwan’s “last pure land.” KFSYSCC, like Chishang, stands firm in its mission and integrity, shaping a benchmark for patient care for nearly 35 years.

As I begin my work here, I hope to contribute with dedication and optimism, believing KFSYSCC will only continue to grow stronger with the shared passion and commitment of this team.

I look forward to learning from everyone!
