HR Department - Reflections from Ms. Tsai Cheng-Shan
Looking back, I never imagined working in a hospital.
For 26 years, my life wasn’t particularly eventful, but it was peaceful and happy. I was surrounded by loved ones and people who cared about me.
The shift from my original marketing job to working in a hospital traces back to late 2017. My college life took an unexpected turn after a New Year’s Eve car accident. Though I only fractured my lower leg, it left me bedridden at home for three months—a period filled with deep reflection.
After graduating, I left the company I’d worked for during college and entered my first healthcare job, balancing work and further studies. Two and a half years later, I graduated again and moved to the “big hospital” I’d always wanted to work in.
When I first arrived at Koo Foundation Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center, sunlight streamed through tall windows, filling the spacious lobby with a welcoming atmosphere. I thought, “Working in a place like this must be comfortable,” and I’ve since found that to be true. The HR role is diverse—handling everything from stamps to payroll. I knew joining this team would be a personal challenge, but with the support of caring colleagues and patient guidance from my supervisors, I’ve learned so much. I’ll never forget how my colleagues supported me during the COVID-19 outbreak, reassuring me to rest at home without worry for work.
Since 2022, I’ve faced many challenges, which have taught me valuable lessons on both work and life. I’m grateful that my efforts were recognized, leading to my appointment as a member of the ninth Employee Welfare Committee, where I can advocate for better benefits for our staff.
There is still much to learn and many challenges ahead. But in the HR family here at KFSYSCC, I’m confident in my growth and my ability to face these challenges.
