With Your Trust and Love, We Will Keep Going
"I want to go back to KFSYSCC, where there are medical staff like my family, making me feel safe..."
On a quiet spring night, when you couldn't get your last breath, you left us... Even though we feel so reluctant and regretful deep inside, we want to say: Thank you for leaving us full of trust and love. With your trust and love, we will continue to move forward, working together — striving for the next patient and their family...
One warm spring morning in 2016, Miss L came to the gynecology clinic with her pathology report from another hospital — endometrial cancer. Anxiety was evident between her brows. Holding tightly to her husband’s and son's hands, she told us, "Hospital H said they would perform surgery on me, but I have many questions, many unclear areas. They want to operate on me like this... I'm really not at ease. I want to know more about my disease... I hope someone can patiently answer my questions and treat me with care. I wish there was a window where I could consult anytime..." Thus, you came to KFSYSCC. From a comprehensive initial nursing assessment, detailed doctor consultations, and intimate health education guidance, to the case manager's attentive listening and care, the touched look in your and your husband's eyes seemed to tell us that here, at this place, you found the answers and care you were looking for — you trust the gynecologic cancer team at KFSYSCC.
We then embarked on a series of treatments together, from surgery to chemotherapy, to radiotherapy. Thank you for letting us accompany you all the way, helping you go from fear and anxiety to facing it bravely. We feel for your suffering, are touched by your family's care for you, and are even more thankful for your and your family's trust in our team, choosing us to care for you and your family. After the treatment, we imagined seeing you, glowing again, riding that beloved motorcycle of yours with your husband under the blue sky and white clouds — touching.
Regrettably, luck quickly left us. A year later, the unwanted happened — your cancer cells spread to your lungs. Suddenly, we all felt like we fell from heaven to hell. Tears secretly climbed up your face again, and dark clouds loomed over us. Thank you for still choosing to trust us, and allowing us to fight alongside you once more. Thus, we went down the chemotherapy road you detested. Although it helped you fight against the cancer cells, it also took away your beautiful hair and cheerful smile. Even though we encouraged you time and time again, we could never truly share your physical and mental pain. Facing the disease's challenges and enduring the tough chemotherapy sessions, you said you were tired. Your husband couldn't bear to see you suffer. After several team and family discussions, you chose to take a break from chemotherapy and sought cellular immunotherapy at another hospital. Our feelings of reluctance and concern made us always think of you. Whenever you felt vulnerable and helpless, you always thought of us, wanting to return to the clinic, wanting to contact your most trusted doctors, case managers, and everyone in the team — it turns out that the bond between us, as strong as family, had been growing silently in our hearts.
After several battles — you still left us. Your husband and son were on the verge of breaking down. Your husband sobbed, saying, "I've fulfilled all the promises I made to you, but the promise of 'I will definitely save you'... I can never fulfill..." The heavy air instantly turned into invisible tears. We, who share your feelings, also want to say, "Thank you for leaving us full of trust and love. With your trust and love, we will continue to move forward, working together — striving for the next patient and their family..." Weeks later, your husband, missing you, returned to the hospital, revisiting those involved in your care. His feelings of longing were evident. But rest assured... whenever needed, we will be here to accompany him...
