An opportunity to learn from the world's leading cancer institutions — and bring that knowledge home.
Cancer care is advancing rapidly around the world. New surgical techniques, precision medicine workflows, AI-driven diagnostics, and innovative care delivery models are emerging at leading institutions across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Some of these capabilities are already developing in Taiwan. Others are not yet available locally — and the fastest way to build them is to send the right people to learn directly from the institutions that are pioneering them.
That is the purpose of the CHEN-YUNG Global Oncology Fellowship.
Thanks to a generous gift from the CHEN-YUNG Educational Development Foundation, KFSYSCC will sponsor two to three staff members each year for a customized international fellowship of up to one year at leading institutions around the world. Fellows may train at places such as MD Anderson Cancer Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Mayo Clinic, Stanford University, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Johns Hopkins, and other leading cancer centers, universities, and research programs — selected to match each fellow's learning objectives and KFSYSCC's strategic needs.
The expectation is straightforward: go abroad, learn from the best, and return to KFSYSCC ready to implement what you learned. Every fellowship is designed around a clear question — what capability does KFSYSCC need, and where in the world is the best place to build it?

當前，癌症醫療正在全球範圍內快速進展。新的手術技術、精準醫療流程、AI 驅動的診斷工具以及創新的照護模式，正在美國、歐洲和亞洲的頂尖機構中不斷湧現。其中部分能力已在台灣開始發展，但也有一些尚未在本地建立——而建立這些能力最快的方式，就是派送合適的人才前往先驅機構直接學習。
這就是勇源全球腫瘤學獎學金計畫的用意。
感謝財團法人勇源教育發展基金會的慷慨捐助，和信醫院每年將資助至多兩名同仁，前往全球頂尖機構進行為期最長一年的客製化國際研修。研修機構可能包括 MD 安德森癌症中心、MSK 紀念斯隆凱特琳癌症中心、梅約診所、史丹佛大學、Dana-Farber 癌症研究所、約翰霍普金斯醫院，以及其他癌症中心、大學與研究計畫——均根據受訓獲選者的學習目標與和信的策略需求匹配選擇。
期望很明確：出國學習、向最優秀的團隊取經，然後帶著所學回到和信付諸實踐。每一項研修都圍繞著一個核心問題設計：和信需要什麼能力，而全球哪裡是建立這項能力的最佳場所？

The CHEN-YUNG Educational Development Foundation was established by Mr. Chen Chao-Heng and Chairman Chen Ching-Chih in memory of their late father, Mr. Chen Yung. The foundation supports scholarships, academic research, and educational and charitable causes as part of its broader mission to cultivate talent and give back to society.
This fellowship reflects that same spirit. It is an investment in people whose growth can strengthen institutions, improve care, and create long-term benefit for patients and communities.

財團法人勇源教育發展基金會由陳朝亨先生與董事長陳清治先生為紀念其已故父親陳勇先生而設立。基金會支持獎學金、學術研究以及教育和慈善事業，作為其培育人才、回饋社會更廣泛使命的一部分。
本獎學金計畫體現了同樣的精神。這是對人才的投資——這些人的成長可以強化機構、改善照護，並為病人和社區創造長期效益。
Ten exceptional fellows. Five years. Forging a new generation of global leaders.
The CHEN-YUNG Global Oncology Fellowship is part of a broader institutional initiative designed not only to support individual fellows, but to help KFSYSCC build enduring capability over time.
From 2026 through 2030, KFSYSCC aims to support two to three fellows each year — a total of ten professionals over five years. Fellows will undertake deep international training at leading cancer centers, universities, and research programs, then return with new knowledge and methods in areas such as precision medicine, systemic therapies, AI-assisted diagnostics, advanced procedures, and multidisciplinary care.
The initiative also envisions inviting specialists from leading international cancer centers to KFSYSCC for lectures, practical exchange, and collaboration aligned with the hospital's evolving programs. Together, these two directions create a two-way bridge: KFSYSCC staff go abroad to learn, and global experts come to KFSYSCC to share.
The five-year goal is clear: to develop a cohort of globally trained professionals who can help shape the next era of cancer care at KFSYSCC.

勇源全球腫瘤學獎學金計畫是更廣泛的機構計畫的一部分。它不僅旨在支持個別受訓獲選者，更協助和信隨著時間建立持久的能力。
從 2026 年至 2030 年，和信計畫每年支持2-3名受訓獲選者，五年共計十名專業人才。受訓獲選者將在頂尖癌症中心、大學和研究計畫接受深度國際培訓，然後帶回精準醫療、全身性治療、AI 輔助診斷、進階手術和多專科團隊照護等領域的新知識與方法。
本計畫也規劃邀請國際頂尖癌症中心的專家來和信進行講座、實務交流與協作，配合醫院不斷發展的計畫。這兩個方向共同構建了一座雙向橋樑：和信同仁出國學習，國際專家來和信分享。
五年目標很明確：培養一批接受過全球培訓的專業人才，協助塑造和信癌症醫療的下一個時代。
This fellowship is not limited to physicians.
The fellowship is open to KFSYSCC physicians, researchers, nurses, technicians, and administrators in good standing. Any colleague whose proposed international training would help KFSYSCC build meaningful capability is encouraged to apply.
Strong applicants are people who can learn deeply in an unfamiliar environment, collaborate across cultures and departments, and return ready to put what they learned into practice.

The flexibility is intentional. What matters is not the format but the outcome — that you return to KFSYSCC with a capability the hospital could not easily have developed through local training alone.

Four areas of focus — with room for proposals that go beyond them.
Competitive proposals will generally fall into one of the following areas, though strong proposals that span or go beyond these categories are welcome.
Precision Oncology and Translational Research includes molecular tumor boards, genomics workflows, biomarker strategy, next-generation sequencing implementation, immunotherapy-related research, and translational laboratory methods.
Advanced Clinical or Surgical Techniques covers focused observerships or advanced clinical immersion in complex oncologic surgery, minimally invasive approaches, organ-preserving techniques, and multidisciplinary treatment design.
AI and Digital Oncology includes formal coursework, research training, or implementation-focused exposure in AI, clinical informatics, digital pathology, imaging analytics, workflow automation, and cancer-related risk prediction.
Nursing, Technical, Administrative, and Service Innovation encompasses survivorship models, multidisciplinary coordination, patient navigation, service redesign, operational innovation, and clinical quality systems.

A strong application answers five questions.

In practical terms, the strongest proposals demonstrate a real hospital need rather than just personal interest, a learning experience that requires international exposure and cannot be replicated locally, a strong fit between the applicant, host institution abroad, and stated objective, a realistic return plan with clear deliverables for KFSYSCC, measurable impact for patients, teams, workflows, education, or research, and sufficient departmental support to make implementation plausible after the fellow returns.
具體來說，最強的提案展現以下特點：回應真實的醫院需求而非僅是個人興趣、學習體驗需要國際曝光且無法在本地複製、申請者、海外接待機構與研修目標之間有強烈的契合度、切實可行的回國執行計畫且具有明確的交付成果、對病人、團隊、流程、教育或研究的可衡量影響，以及充分的部門支持使回國後的實施切實可行。

- 1.Curriculum Vitae — Maximum three pages. Include education, positions held, and key achievements.
- 2.Proof of English Proficiency — TOEFL iBT 90+, IELTS 7.0+, OET Grade B, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3.Statement of Purpose — Maximum 1,000 words. Explain why you are applying now and how the experience abroad will help you advance cancer care or innovation at KFSYSCC.
- 4.Impact Proposal — Maximum five pages, with an optional one-page Gantt chart. Describe the capability you will launch or strengthen within 12 months of returning.
- 5.Preferred Host and Mentor Plan — List up to five target institutions, mentors, or programs abroad with an explanation of why each is a strong fit.

A rigorous two-stage review to identify the proposals with the greatest potential and impact.
Applications will be reviewed in two stages. In the first stage, all applications are reviewed for strategic relevance to KFSYSCC, strength of the international host and mentor plan, clarity of purpose, leadership potential, learning agility, and feasibility of implementation after return.
In the second stage, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a structured interview and proposal discussion. This is an opportunity to present your plan in depth and demonstrate your readiness to learn abroad and execute at home.
