Dr. Chun-Chieh Pan, Department of General Medicine

After earning his M.D. at Taipei Medical University, Dr. Pan entered Taipei Veterans General Hospital for post-graduate general-medicine training. He then completed the full curriculum in internal medicine and gastroenterology, adding board certifications in internal medicine, gastroenterology, and gastrointestinal endoscopy.

During his residency and chief-residency years he ran animal-model studies of cirrhosis and portal-hypertension and investigated hepatic encephalopathy, achievements that qualified him for a university lectureship. His clinical focus spans liver disease, diagnostic endoscopy, and upper-abdominal ultrasound, and he now serves on the multidisciplinary team that manages hepatocellular carcinoma and upper-GI malignancies.

With digestive-tract cancers rising steadily, Dr. Pan sees endoscopy taking an ever larger role in both diagnosis and therapy. His goal for the coming years is to refine early-cancer detection and expand endoscopic solutions for cancer-related complications.
